Mohnkuchen mit Streusel: German Poppy Seed Cake recipe by Felice | CookMap.com
“The first ever mohnkuchen I have ever made. We loved this when we lived in Germany 20 years ago. Now live in Spain but have just returned from a holiday in Germany and brought back the poppy seeds. We like it with a drizzle of icing on the top. Fabulous recipe, thank you!”
“I made the whole meal for my thanksgiving party and it turned out amazing!! There weren't even any crumbs left over ;) Everyone really loved how the rice had berries and nuts (used cranberries btw)! Thanks so much! ”
“Made this with apples and chestnuts, and added some cinnamon! I only used a little bit of sugar (2 Tbsp), but I think it would've been better with some more because the chestnuts could use some extra sweetness. Still, love this bread! Will be making it again ;)”
“I never saw spaghetti like this before so I've been curious to try. It was a little difficult to do the first time actually - I couldn't get a nice "cake" shape and burnt the potatoes a little, haha. BUT it did taste great! The spices and flavors were a lot different than normal spaghetti! I want to try this again and get it right :)”
“This is maybe the 4th time I made Fesenjoon! I think I'm finally getting good at it ;) I added the cinnamon, cardamon and cumin like you suggested and loved it! It was great with the walnuty flavor! Also, instead of using tomato paste, I tried making my own pomegranate syrup from pomegranate juice blend. Turned out nice! Maybe need a little bit more lemon than the recipe though? I'll keep practicing, thanks again!”
“Stuffed peppers is one of my favorite dishes but I never tried the Iranian style! It was delicious! The herbs and spices make this great. Just one pepper was enough to fill everyone up, heh. It was actually similar to what we make in Germany, but we use nutmeg to season the meat. ”
“SOOOOOOO good!!! I'm never confident about making deep-fried dishes but these turned out perfect thanks to the simple great instructions! I stuffed mine with ground chicken and shiso (a japanese herb). I had a little dough left over so experimented by making a mini-pastel with sauerkraut and caraway... worked surprisingly well! Will make again!”
“After having this once, I'm in love with this dish! It's surprisingly refreshing thanks to the lemon, plus the chicken and eggplant gets so tender it melts in your mouth! I tried adding some other spices like cinnamon, cumin, and a little nutmeg, caraway and cardamom. It seemed kind of soupy at first so I let it boil for maybe double the time. Btw, leftovers are SO GOOD the next day!!”
“Wow, these things are awesome! I love the walnut filling. I thought nazook was going to be hard and take a long time, but it was much easier than I thought and fun to make! Nazook reminds me a little of cinnamon rolls but seems much lighter and extra flavor from cardamom & nutmeg! I cut the recipe in half and got 8 pieces :) Thanks again!”
“#morinokoavocado ワカモレ作ったよー！マグロをレモン汁にしばらく漬けて、ワカモレとクレソンと畑の絹さやでサラダを作ってみた！爽やかで美味しかった次のレシピは今週中かな？？Made guacamole for #morinokoavocado cooking event! Made a salad with watercress, snow peas from the farm, and raw tuna marinaded in lemon juice. Nice combo! #guacamole #ワカモレ #一緒に作ろう”
“Very nice and surprisingly filling! I love how it's just very simple ingredients but has a lot of flavor. I was surprised how much flavor turmeric adds to the dish. Served this with brown rice - yum! It's so fun exploring Iran through food. Thank you so much for sharing!”
I made guacamole and the chicken steak!

I didn't have kombu so left it out and added about a teaspoon of sugar to tone down the vinegar. It turned out perfect - thank you so much! ”

“I love shirasu so it was fun to make this! I was lucky to get some super fresh shirasu from my friend so it was extra good ;) I didn't know there was a special sauce over top with mirin and soy sauce. So easy and so delicious! Thanks!”
“My friend inspired me to to try roasting veggies with thick cut bacon and it turned out so good! The vegetables I used this time were kabocha, nagaimo (Japanese yam), sweet potatoes, and new potatoes. Added cumin along with the rosemary which went really nice with this combo!”
“A delicious lunch. I was a bit concerned the tofu would break apart but it held together no problem and had a wonderful crispiness to it. The sauce with enoki mushrooms was also a delight. Thanks so much for this recipe!”
“This is one of the most delicious Japanese recipes I've made! I love getting this at restaurants, but always thought it was too hard to make. The video was super helpful! I accidentally bought firm tofu, but it came out totally fine. Thank you for another great recipe - I can't wait to make this again!”
How to cook steak recipe by Braxted Park Cookery School, Essex | CookMap.com
“First time cook a steak, tried with tiniest cheapest steak in the supermarket. Forgot to use the muscle tricks to test how well done the steak is, but it turned out exactly what I wanted :) Should improve my sauce next time. ”
“Pies and tarts are definitely important for Thanksgiving, but because my family was quite full after the feast, I decided to make a mini version of this with a pie base instead of a tart base! I cut down on the crumble and added a bit of cinnamon. It tasted so good! Thanks for the recipe :D”
“Didn't have cherry tomatoes, so I just used regular tomatoes. Using good mustard is really essential for this salad! Also, I think the honey plays a really important role as well! Thanks for the delicious recipe :D”
“I found a whole chicken at a new supermarket I went to! Did not use the potatos as I already had leftover mashed potatos however the simplicity of the lemon, thyme and garlic was delicious! I will definitely be bringing this to my next potluck :)”
“Had a lunch party and thought rolls would be great so I gave California rolls a try. It was fun making them and turned out delicious! Made A LOT but they're all gone quickly :D Will definitely try again! Thanks for the recipe!”
“Trying Pumpkinseed Madness challenge, I've got pumpkin to use and this was perfect! I love quiche but never even tried to cook it as it seems complicated. But without the crust, it was really easy and I liked how I can make this with what I normally have in fridge. Thanks for the recipe!”
“Had some leftover veggies and wanted something quick so this was perfect for my early dinner! Added carrot and fish sausage instead of red bell pepper and ham, also oyster sauce when frying. It turned out delicious!
“I was used to making rolled sushi with the sea weed on the outside, so making these California rolls with the rice on the outside was something new to me. The sesame seeds really added up to the deliciousness! Thanks for the recipe :D”
“What a great flavorful sauce! I never had fried chicken like this! I made this with chicken thighs cut up into small pieces so it was like Nagoya-style Kara-age, hehe. My family is already requesting more ;)”
“My friends and I wolfed this down! I stayed with the walnuts but added a touch of cumin and turmeric. It was like a nutty curry yet surprisingly mild...yum! Thanks- I'm glad I got to try a new kind of cooking!”
“This turned out great! It wasn't too moist, nor was it flaky at all. I ran out of honey as I was measuring out the molasses, so I mixed in some maple syrup. It still turned out amazing though! I passed out a few slices to my friends and they all loved it. Thanks for the recipe :)”
“I felt like I wasn't eating enough vegetables, so I doubled the onion and carrots and cut down on the rice. I was so surprised about how sweet it tasted, even though I didn't add any ketchup or any other flavorings of that sort. I guess it's all thanks to the veggies :D
Thanks for the sweet and simple recipe!”
“This was really, "simply delicious"!
Because I didn't have enough flour to make a large crust and because I was the only one home for lunch, I thought, "why not make a tart for one!"
With the healthy pie crust that you linked, this tart made a perfect main dish for lunch.
Thanks for the recipe. Will make some more soon!”
“After seeing all the cooksnaps I had to try this myself ;) I added some spices like cardamom and clove, which was delicious! Also made mine with half wheat flour and egg (thanks Ben!). Loved how easy and apple-y these were :D”
“I finally gathered all the spices I needed for this :D I replaced the canned tomatoes with butternut squash so it turned out extra thick! I couldn't believe how much spice was in here- yum!! It tasted especially amazing the next day ;)”
“Delicious! I freshly ground & toasted some almonds that I sprinkled onto the pancakes before flipping them. As for the hearts, those were not mine, but the girlfriend's doing!
May try adding an egg next time to get a little more "cakey" consistency.
Thanks Haruka! You made our Sunday morning :)”

“Delicious and Nutritious!
I was actually out of flour and used Gluten-Free Whey Protein instead! Hands down the best post workout meal ever :D Stomachs Happy, Muscles Happy and Lifes Happy! I will definitely recommend this to my friends!”
“I loved how you thought to pair a red wine sauce with fish!
Two things I did differently was using normal vinegar as I did not have red wine vinegar and I added a little corn starch at the end because despite the butter my sauce was very runny. I will definitely be trying this again!”
“This recipe is simple but these sweet potato wedges taste really good! I tried it with carrots as well and they were good, too! I was gonna use cinnamon sugar but the sweetness of the potato actually goes pretty well with curry powder. Such a great recipe for healthy snack!”
“I was so dumb that I realized I didn't have enough ingredients but mashed potatoes after I started cooking and ended up putting peanut butter in it and served with honey. So it was more like a snack but this is such a great way to make savory pancakes! I'll definitely try with cheese and vegetables next time! Thanks for the recipe!”
“This dish was amazing! I couldn't find any Maggi Noodles so I used ramen noodles instead and it worked magic :D
This recipe is perfect for any college student with ramen noodles sitting in their cabinet, I'll have to tell my friends about this!”
“I didn't have enough tomato puree and I added in extra veggies, so it doesn't look quite tomato-ey, but it still worked! I never thought about adding tuna to ratatouilles, but I'm glad I did because it was so good! Thank you for the recipe :))”
“I enjoyed this recipe very very much (especially because I'm currently addicted to tomatoes)! I didn't strain the soup on purpose because I wanted to keep some of the texture, and it tasted perfectly fine even so! Thanks for the wonderful recipe!”
“I needed some pesto for my somen/pasta, and I thought I had some in my fridge, but it turned out I used it all up last week! Luckily, I had all of the ingredients for this recipe. I used almond powder that I had left over from baking, and it worked just fine :D
Thanks for the recipe!”
“The boil-bake method makes the potatoes so much more crispy! I roast potatoes with veggies a lot but never boil them first. I happened to have some leftover boiled potatoes so was looking for something to do with them. I sprinkled mine with cumin and cayenne, too, for a touch of spice! Yum!”
“Thought I got a better picture of this, but they were all blurry…
Made these the other day and everyone loved them! I did replace the coconut nectar with honey, as I couldn't get my hands on any nectar. Thanks Reyna!”
“Had to give this a try after seeing your drawings :)
I cooked mine in a heavy pot on the stove, as I'm kind of weird & anti-microwave. The dish was deliciously simple, and the white wine a nice touch.
Thanks Ringo! Looking forward to more fun drawings & recipes soon!”
“Thought they were just dirty farmers' market potatoes, but they were actually purple potatoes! Tasted completely normal, but are supposedly healthier than regular ones.
Loved the recipe made with yogurt. Missed the last tip, to "serve warm" which is definitely key to letting the flavors mix. Luckily the leftovers had sat out for a bit and warmed up :)”
“What a super fun idea! This was perfect for when I was craving a little snack ;) I tried it with the chocolate and stuffed in some cranberries and nuts too. It was REALLY good! I didn't know apples and chocolate go well together!”
“I didn't have bell peppers so I used salsa (which has cupsicum, onion and tomato in it) instead of peppers/tomatoes and still tasted good! I also added shredded carrot. It's so easy to make and sautéed mushrooms make this salad more tasty!”
“Really simple and it's a good way to eat lots of veggies! I served it with garlic bread and went really well. Also I added ketchup and sugar to make it a little bit sweeter, which I thought kids would prefer.”
“Really easy to cook and good for any meal. The sesame seeds add some flavor to and it tastes so good. For some reason it got a little too liquidly at first so I stir fried it a little bit. It then tasted like Japanese Kimpira.”
“After seeing your egg volcano I had to make one myself, and then some Spinach & Cheese ravioli too!
The ravioli ?skin? turned out amazing using this recipe (with only white flour) and tender.
One mistake I made was making the walls of my flour mountain too steep and the egg seeped through once I started stirring. Not steep would have worked better, just like in your picture!”
“Served your pretzels with a choice of fresh pesto, mustard, & melted butter. Then also made one garlic style & one cinnamon sugar.
I brushed the pretzels with butter after boiling, which made them not have as much of a thick crust. I liked them this way, although will probably try it without brushing next time.
“There are some many delicious layers of flavor going on in this dish- love the lime accent too! I used lots veggies from the garden :) I didn't have glass noodles so used soba instead, thanks for sharing!”
“Everyone enjoyed this as a start to a dinner of homemade ravioli last weekend. It was cool and perfect for the summer!
I garnished with a little cottage cheese and yellow tomatoes. Also I forgot to buy sherry vinegar, so had to replace it with balsamic. Was still delicious!”
“Wonderful! The texture was so silky thanks to straining out the little pieces at the end! I had to use my oven to broil the pepper but still this had tons of flavor. Can't wait til my garden tomatoes are ripe :D”
“I couldn't find the caihuas yet but I tried it with red sweet peppers. I've only had these baked but simmering in broth was really tasty because the soup becomes flavorful and the stuffing stays moist! By the way, love the raisins :)”
“I wasn't the biggest fan of Zucchinis but after this champul , I'm in LOVE with zucchinis!!! Another quick note: I didn't use any salt in this dish! Keeping it Healthy!
僕はズッキーニの大ファンではなかったけど、このチャンプールを食べた後ズッキーニを大好きになりました！ もう一つ； この料理に塩を使わなかったです！ヘルシー！”
“Corn just came into season so had to try your soup! I loved the addition of peas and corn- it gave the soup a really nice texture and nice flavor. The ricotta cheese I used was very soft so it melted into the soup, but I just put a little on top at the end instead ;) Maybe I'll try feta next time...”
“Actually I'm doing this every year that's why I planted so many basil herbs and other herbs in my garden.I put this in my toasted bread for breakfast..soo yummy!!!! I cooked this 1 week ago and refrigerate it”
“Really enjoyed this!
Such a great simple dish. I did give it a little more of an Asian twist replacing the cooking wine with Japanese cooking sake and adding a little soy sauce as well.
Then served it rice bowl style with some plane spinach on the side. Was absolutely delicious and something I'll be making again soon!”
“Hi Kitty, I made your recipe tonight after exercising & it was so good! I'm sure it was very healthy too :)
I made quite a few changes though, in that I didn't add any ingredients and just used the natural sugar & juice from the watermelon to marinate the white of the watermelon.
Then I cut the red "meat" of the watermelon up in thin strips as well and ate it with chopsticks! Delicious!”
“I've combined rye and wholewheat plus all purpose flour when trying this recipe, so it doesn't look very much like yours, and tastes a bit different too.
But - oh my! - what a soft bread!
Definitely will bake it again. Thanks for sharing.”
“The kelp and sardine dashi stock was simply amazing. I have to say this is probably the best miso/tonjiru I've ever made- better than the recipe from my Japanese cooking book! Thank you for a great recipe!”
“Made this with fresh bamboo shoots, chickpeas and lots of veggies! Very delicious- unfortunately nothing was left over for the next day... I couldn't find Malaysian curry paste so had to use Thai one instead. Are the flavors very different?”
“Every time I saw dried mangoes at the store I always thought about this recipe. FINALLY tried it out! I love preparing it at night to have it waiting for me in the morning because the yogurt gets extra creamy!”
“I didn't have much white flour so ended up using a lot of rye wheat, which actually came out pretty well! Maybe because of that I had to dig away at it with a knife a bit to create the pocket but it still worked out in the end :)”
Brussels sprouts with chard and Kielbasa in a mustard cream sauce
“Finally made it! I loved the spice and ended up making it two days in a row! And what do you know, I actually had chard growing in my garden ;D Can't really find kielbasa in Japan so I made some chorizo meatballs, yum!! More recipes please!”
“This really was the best gnocchi ever! I couldn't believe how soft and smooth the texture was, plus it was surprisingly easy to make! I don't think I can ever buy pre-made gnocchi from the store again...”
“I cooked this with "round herring" fishes which is a kind of sardines, freshly bought at the Katase Enoshima fishing port. I used garlic and fresh herbs ( thyme, rosemary, and oregano ) since I didn't have cheese.
Slightly salty sardines worked very well with potatoes, and it was delicious !”
“I cooked these last night since I love shortbread. Really simple recipe and really delicious! I overcooked them a little because I thought they were too soft, but next time I'll stick to the 15 mins :)”
“Thanks for the crepe recipe! Used mushroom, ham, cheese and tomato with basil for the filling instead because that was what I had in the fridge. Very yummy too! Managed to make 3 crepes in total with the same measurements. :D Thanks again!”
“Since I read Christopher's 'Cooked it' review, I really wanted to try this recipe and I did it!! yaay!
I thought pretzel is kind of hard and dry, but it's actually fluffy and soft inside. It's very yummy!
Thank you for the easy and great recipe☆”
“Made this the other night, but like Da Washoku Kitchen, I used sausage instead of ham. Unfortunately I got too greedy with the contents and it partly broke when I tried to wrap it. Still good though !”
“Made this today, but I couldn't find Garam Masala at my local grocer, so I used Tandoori Masala instead (which wiki tells me has Garam Masala in it). I used too much salt and may have over done the salmon, but overall it tasted good ! :)”
“Cooked this tonight. Very tasty. I dusted off the slow cooker for this one and it worked well. Put a little between two slices of white bread and cut it for my 3 year old, and he enjoyed it too. cheers!”
“Hi Miles! I made your omlet! I used sausage instead of using ham. (because I didn't have a ham in my refrigerator.) it was yummm! I feel like to say it is good opportunity to using up leftovers from refrigerator just like a 'garbage pizza'! I will make this often!!
“Ok, first up -> Are you crazy? I put the "60g" of dried chillis in a bowl then thought "omg, that's going to kill me." :D
and Second -> Did you remove the seeds from the chillis? I used about 2/3 of the chillis you called for, but the seeds were very menacing and they looked like they were everywhere. I ended up using only 2/3 of the chilli sauce I made because I couldn't take the heat. :)
Awesome recipe; accurate name!”
“Prepared the pork yesterday and left to marinade in the fridge overnight, and made it today. Very simple and very delicious. I may have overdone the chilli flakes as it had quite a kick. I also served in a wrap with lettuce, tomato, garlic, green pepper and a splash of balsamic. Managed to make enough for 4 people with the above recipe. Will definitely make this again!”
“So so good Chelleydoo. my only complaint - I didnt make enough and we devoured it in minutes :) The sauce you added in the comments was great too! I halved the amount of coconut milk and it was about right. Maybe you should add the peanut sauce as its own recipe? Thanks so much again for sharing.”
“Love this dessert! And I discovered a neat trick (by accident). Apparently after blending another round yesterday, I chucked a scoop away in the fridge to save for my brother. We forgot all about it till this morning where it looked like ice.
When we took it out, I let the thing defrost slightly and when I dug my spoon into it, I was pleasantly surprised that the texture was firm like milky icecream instead of the soft serve texture! One would think that it would have crystalized with icy bits within especially when we didn't add any anti-freeze chemicals. Just amazed by nature's gift.
Gonna update the recipe and add this little tip :)”
